We provide three types of survey, depending on the level of risk.
Type 1 - Location and assessment survey (presumptive survey). Locates the presence and extent of any suspected Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM's) where safe sampling is impractical, e.g. in locations in continuous operation. It also assesses the risk from ACM's but defers the need to sample until a later time, usually prior to refurbishment or demolition.
Type 2 - Standard sampling identification and assessment survey (sampling survey). The most common type of survey, investigating all reasonably accessible areas and taking samples of suspect material for analysis by our laboratories. Similar materials throughout the building will be presumed to have the same contents.
Type 3 - Full access sampling and identification survey (pre-demolition / major refurbishment surveys). Used to locate and describe all ACM's in the building. If necessary, the Surveyor will carry out destructive inspection to gain access to areas. Potential ACM's will be identified, confirmed through analysis of samples and amounts estimate. This survey aids planning for the removal of ACM's prior to demolition or refurbishment.
Our laboratories are accredited by UKAS for fibre identification
Having done the survey, we provide a comprehensive report including a register of ACM's, photographs and a full risk assessment.
We provide extensive consultancy to help Clients produce and implement a management plan. This will enable them to comply with their duties. A full range of BIOH courses are provided to help Clients with on going compliance.
Our team of consultants are dedicated to helping Clients manage asbestos risks and therefore provide effective tools such as e-risk MANAGER.
If clean up or removal works are planned, we offer complete project management, the vetting of removal contractors, preparation of risk assessment, supervision of the work and notification of the enforcing authority.
National Britannia is an HSE Supervisory License holder for asbestos work, enabling us to exercise a direct and immediate influence over site activities during these projects. We have been managing such projects since the 1980's.
For asbestos that is not being removed, it is vital to monitor the condition regularly. Any change in use of the area or deterioration in the ACM may require the risks to be re-assessed. Through regular inspections, National Britannia keeps your (often considerable) investment in the initial register and risk assessment data relevant and useful.
Where a client unavoidably becomes involved in an asbestos-related court action, National Britannia can help with the preparation of the case and provide an expert witness to give technical evidence in court.
